IN AUGUSTA



This year's GUFC conference will be held October 29-31 (closing at noon on the 31st)at the Marriott Augusta Hotel & Suites, Two 10th Street, Augusta, 30901. The theme of the 18th Annual GUFC Conference and Awards Program is "Clean Water, Clean Air - Community Trees and a Healthy Ecosystem." Enjoy informative keynote addresses by Gary Moll, VP Urban Ecosystems Center, American Forests and Turner Simkins, Project Manager for North Augusta's Hammonds Ferry Development; outstanding educational sessions, and interesting tours, including a leisurely boatride down the historic Augusta Canal. Also scheduled: a bike ride, tree planting, and a look back at 20 years of the Georgia Urban Forest Council at the Wednesday night opening reception. Sponsorships available. We will offset the conference's carbon emissions with tree plantings, a seedling giveaway, and recycling. The Augusta Marriott has a strong environmental stewardship program, implementing recycling, fluorescent lighting, linen reuse, eco-friendly detergents, and much more.

Wednesday, October 29:
9 a.m. - 5 p.m.: Exhibitor Move-In, Registration and Check-In
12 noon: Bike Ride and Tree Planting
2 - 5:30 p.m. : Pre-Conference workshop and Tree Board Roundtable.
6 p.m.: Opening Night Reception - a look back at 20 years of GUFC!

Thursday, October 30:
7:30 a.m.: Registration, Check-in, Continental Breakfast
8:00 - 10:00 a.m.: General Session Keynote Speeches by Gary Moll, VP, Urban Ecosystem Center, American Forests; and Turner Simkins, Project Director, Hammonds Ferry Development
10:00 - 11:30 a.m.: Tour of North Augusta's Hammonds Ferry Development
12 noon - 1:30 p.m.: Awards Luncheon
2:00 - 4:30 p.m.: Concurrent Sessions
4:30 p.m. Boat Tour down historic Augusta Canal

Friday, October 31:
7:30 a.m.: Continental Breakfast
8:00 - Noon: Sessions
