Summary:

Responsibilities:
- Sales Arborist will meet with clients to assess their trees/landscape, address any issue or concerns they have, and educate clients about proper tree care standards.
- Write detailed proposals with recommendations for specific tree care needs
- Ability to Estimate time/cost for crews to perform tree removal, pruning, plant health care, and all other tree care services
- Follow up and communicate with clients about any questions or concerns
- Oversee production team to ensure that the work order is clear and executed completely.
- Find new opportunities for commercial clients
Desired Skills and Experience:
- ISA Certified Arborist, or willing to acquire
- Excellent Work Ethic
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be detailed oriented and be able to work within the guidelines of the organization

Sales arborists work on a commission structure and will be part of a sales team. Compensation is directly related to the motivation of the individual and the ability to work well with others. Hourly pay + commission.

POSITION: The Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in community forestry and arboriculture at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with a 70% outreach, 25% instruction, and 5% university and professional service appointment. Terms of the appointment as 9 or 12 month are negotiable. Successful candidates will be part of the Community Forestry and Arboriculture (COFA) faculty group and are expected to establish interdisciplinary collaborations in teaching and research with faculty in the Warnell School and across campus. Individuals with expertise in the following academic areas relative to natural resources management in the urban context are encouraged to apply: urban forestry, arboriculture, tree biology, tree physiology, tree biomechanics, plant health care, urban ecology, and green infrastructure.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Outreach (i.e., extension) responsibilities include development of externally funded, regionally / nationally recognized outreach program based on relevant, refereed literature and science-based information targeting professional and general audiences. Program areas may include, for example: tree health and risk management, tree biology and physiology, trees and climate change, assisting stakeholders with standard compliance, and identifying industry needs. Program evaluation and impact are expected as a key component of a successful program. Teaching duties include supporting the COFA program, including undergraduate and graduate student advising, and teaching two courses annually, including a technical arboriculture course. Professional service includes serving on School/University committees and actively participating in professional/scientific societies.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required qualifications include a Ph.D. degree prior to the starting date in forestry, natural resources, ecology, horticulture / arboriculture, biology, or a closely related field with expertise in the academic areas listed above. Preferred qualifications include a background in arboriculture techniques and practices. Also preferred is the Certified Arborist credential or willingness to become certified as well as field experience of the arboriculture / urban forestry practitioner sector.

Duties include:
● Manage and supervise all production workers in alignment with the rules and policies in our employee handbook
● Collaborate with the Senior Maintenance Engineer to ensure a safe and ready-to-use fleet.
● Collaborate harmoniously with the Safety Manager to plan inspections, trainings, and staffing to optimize safety and employee development.
● Work closely with Sales Manager to maintain good relations between sales and production. Use data and analytics to implement changes driving profitability and efficiency.
● Improve worker productivity by monitoring Overtime and improving worker returns.
● Work closely with Office Manager, ensuring that PTO, training, and other field worker needs are properly communicated for optimal scheduling.
● Visit jobsites as needed throughout the day as problems arise, or to do flash visits, assist the safety manager and production supervisors with inspections, etc.
● Maintain control over both Boutte Tree company yards through good management.
● Be responsible for damages and repairs, tracking, resolution, client communication, and employee accountability. The office provides administrative assistance with tracking.

- Operating knuckle boom grapple on CDL grapple truck to pick up logs and debris from residential and commercial customers' locations as scheduled
- Knowing how to safely handle, operate and maintain chainsaws and other tree care equipment
- Cleaning and maintaining whichever truck he/she may drive and operate
- Clearing work sites of all debris, including raking debris, picking up small sticks and branches, blowing off driveways and lawns, etc.

Minimum qualifications:
Completion of an undergraduate major in forestry at an accredited four-year college or university with 1-year of relevant Urban and Community Forestry work experience
OR
completion of an undergraduate degree in a related major at an accredited four-year college or university with 3-years or more of relevant work experience in Urban and Community Forestry
OR
extensive work experience (8+ years) in Urban and Community Forestry in lieu of an undergraduate degree; proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; excellent customer service and communication skills; experience speaking to small and large audiences about a variety of natural resources issues
Preferred qualifications:
A stand-alone degree with an urban forestry major, or an emphasis area in urban forestry within a forest management degree. ISA Certified Arborist. A minimum of one-year experience providing assistance to communities/community groups/non-profits involved in urban forestry and urban interface issues. Experience organizing planting or other community events and workshops.

Job duties include:

- experience in all aspects of tree removal, spike-less pruning, crane removal, aerial lift, operating a chainsaw
- ropes and rigging knowledge and skills
- tree equipment operation: chipper, bobcat, mini-loader, etc
- proper use of provided PPE (personal protection equipment)

Job Summary
The position supports the integrated vegetation management activities at GPC Generation facilities across the GPC service area.
This includes the vegetation management activities at Plants Bowen, Hammond, Wansley, Yates, McIntosh, McManus, Grumman Road, Boulevard CT, and Wilson. The area is a statewide territory with plans to expand services at other GPC Generation facilities over time.
The office location for the position is not fixed but, currently, the work taking place is in Northwest and Coastal Regions). The successful candidate must live within a reasonably commutable distance to the work management areas. Day travel and occasional overnight travel within the state may be required. Relocation assistance is available for this position.
Job Duties

Implementation and management of an integrated vegetation management (IVM) plan across the assigned territory

Perform on-going quality control inspections of completed work as well as work in progress to ensure compliance with contract specifications

Manage an annual IVM budget to complete the scheduled work plan

Manage contractor resource levels to complete funded work plan

Manage and coordinate the daily work-plans of multiple contractor resources to ensure work practices are performed safely, productively, and within schedule

Establish and maintain relationships with various federal, state, municipal, and local government agencies and departments related to vegetation management.

Represent GPC to various organizations such as local tree boards, neighborhood associations, professional organizations, company or industry committees, etc.

Effectively communicate vegetation maintenance objectives and practices to both internal and external customers

Ensure all compliance and regulatory obligations are met

Ensure compliance with requirements of FAC-003-4 always

Work outside normal business hours in support of emergency restoration efforts is expected

Ensure vegetation management contractors follow proper plant notification and safety procedures

Keep informed of specific plant compliance requirements and pesticide restrictions

Update plant managers and financial specialists of vegetation management budgets and projected spend forecasts
