8:00am-9:30am Power Point and Open Discussion;

• Safety Update: Industry Statistics and What We Can Do About Them

9:45am-12:00noon Education and Demonstration in SRS Application

  • Associated Equipment and Terminology (anchors, friction devices, friction cordage, rope)
  • “SRS” specific safety considerations; Ergonomics, force vectors, equipment compatibility,
  • pre-climb assessment

12:00-12:30pm Break/Lunch

12:30pm-4:00pm Education and Demonstration Cont.

  • Compare and contrast;
    • Safety Considerations cont.
    • SRS and its many forms; ascent, hybrid (combined MRS & SRS), integrated ascentand work positioning systems
    • moving rope systems vs. stationary rope systems explore advantages and disadvantages
    • Open discussion and as time allows; redirects, limb walk MRS
  • Why Safety Matters; Industry performance-We are struggling!!! “Can we stay in business if
    • we do not self-correct?” “How can we recruit the next generation of arborists when we are
    • scaring off the best candidates?”

Arborist since 2003 (PD-1510A).  Chapter Climbing Champion-2007, represented the Penn-Del chapter at the ITCC.  Regional Safety Specialist-supporting operations in safety program enhancement, implementation and education.
