What is Biochar?  Biochar is a charcoal-like substance that’s made by burning organic material from agricultural and forestry wastes

    Presented by:

    Kelby Fite

This presentation will focus on the journey discovering the use of biochar in the urban and suburban landscape for the health of shade trees.  As biochar first became a topic of discussion, it was met with much skepticism, but investigations proceeded and led to the discovery of its usefulness to reduce environmental stresses and disease pressure on the urban tree canopy.  The talk with give a brief background of biochar, the research behind its use and the standard industry practices in use today.
