    DEDICATION CEREMONY

     

    Due to this year’s drought, recognizing the importance of trees and their impact on the environment has become vital to communities.  DeKalb County is celebrating Arbor Day 2008 by showcasing outstanding existing trees in the county: the Dogwood tree (Cornus Florida) which is Georgia’s native flowering Dogwood and the Live Oak which Georgia’s State tree.

    Citizens of DeKalb submitted Dogwoods for judgment based on the following three measurements: circumference, height, and branch spread.  The selected dogwood will be honored along with the “Largest DeKalb County Live Oak” in a ceremony on
